Flamenco Classes

Experience flamenco: the dance, the culture, the passion! Experienced teacher, Anastassiia offers
flamenco dance classes in Calgary, Canada. She started teaching in 2011 at the Fiona Malena Flamenco Academy in Calgary,
Canada, which she is now also co-directs. Anastassiia frequently teaches as guest instructor
in other dance schools, such as the School of Alberta Ballet in Calgary, INTERflamenca in Mexico city, and Miss Corrinne’s Dance School
in Nelson, BC. She also offers private flamenco dance classes in Calgary, Canada.

Anastassiia is available for private classes in Calgary until June 7th, 2020.
In May 2020 she will be teaching flamenco classes in Nelson, BC, and will also available for private lessons at that time.

Beginner I – Fundamentals (Tangos/Sevillanas)

This class is an introductory, beginner level for those who have little to no experience in flamenco. If you would like to brush up your fundamentals, this dance class is for you too!

Beginner II – Style/Technique (Alegrías)

This class is for those with 6+ months of previous training, designed to deepen your understanding of rhythm and improve technique.

Intermediate (Seguiriyas)

This class is for you, if you have previous experience in flamenco dance, or have taken at least one year of our beginner course.

Palmas: Beyond Compas
– Workshops series, Calgary, Canada
In these workshops you will improve your musicality and sense of rhythm, which will apply to any
flamenco palo. Start off with the basic compás accompaniment, the structures and dynamics within
different palos, and a set of basic percussion exercises. We then take those skills an apply them into
different palos and speeds to create harmonious patterns together. We will also go over how to work
with the metronome and how you can practice at home. This workshop is suitable for any level, dancers,
singers and guitarists.

Dates: February 15th, February 22nd, February 29th, March 7th, March 14th
Time: 2:30 to 4:00 (90 mins)
Cost: $35 per workshop (deal: register to all workshops for $150)
